The Atacama Desert, the central valleys, the lakes and Patagonia can all dream, but their meeting requires choices. This long country is better discovered with two deep regions than with a succession of flights linking the most famous sites.

Each universe offers its own rhythm: mineral light in the north, cities and counties in the center, more weather flexibility in the south. The colors of a valley and the colors of a forest deserve their own days. Nights and links should follow this line rather than a list of places.

Santiago, Valparaíso and the Atacama

A first trip can associate a urban approach and a stay in the north. Santiago allows you to get in touch with the country before the landscapes of San Pedro de Atacama. Internal flights, transfers and installation are counted in real time, not as a full day of visits.

Around San Pedro, valleys and landscapes of the Altiplano are not discovered in the same conditions. The distance and altitude of the places must guide the agenda. Valparaíso brings another look at the center, with a real time for its neighborhoods and reliefs.

The southern lakes or Chilean Patagonia

The Puerto Varas region, between lakes, forests and volcanoes, is another direction. A more southern approach can prefer Patagonia. These two sets can form distinct trips: their interest is measured by the days on the place and the possibilities of discovery, not by the combined kilometers.

Towards Torres del Paine, views and long walks do not involve the same effort. The level of walking is determined before the activities. Several nights and marges give more opportunities to enjoy the landscapes, without making all the stay dependent on one window of weather.

About fifteen days can serve as a basis for two well-selected sets, depending on the links. With less time, a region and a city entrance allow you to enjoy more. Distant extensions require additional identified nights, rather than a quick tour in an already dense program.

Extend without spreading too thin

Argentina or Bolivia can complement a targeted path from Patagonia or Altiplano, with a own organization. The border should not become a goal in itself. Rapa Nui is also a distinct extension, which deserves real nights and a full place in the project.
