Mexico’s neighborhoods, Oaxaca’s traditions and Yucatán’s Maya sites belong to distant universes. Choosing one or two consistent sets gives the thickness to the journey. The country is not reduced to neither a coast nor a single civilization, even for a first discovery.

Heritage and daily responses: market, table, animated square and museum bring a context to the archaeological sites. The gardens and regional cuisines allow a different presence of the country. Time in town prevents the discoveries from resuming to the most photographed monuments.

Mexico City and Oaxaca, a cultural and culinary thread

Mexico deserves several days organized by neighborhoods to limit the travels. Architecture, collections, places and kitchen are completed without obligatory entrance within a single day. A tour outside the city should keep its place clean, with time for travel and for visits.

Oaxaca gives a different urban scale and a direct link to regional traditions. Monte Albán can complement walking and culinary discoveries. Eventual workshops are selected for their content and conditions of reception, without presenting the inhabitants as the figurants of a scene announced in advance.

The Yucatán, beyond a beach resort

The peninsula can bring together a city like Mérida, archaeological sites and a coastal stage. The place of the nights avoids long repeated excursions. Valladolid or another interior sector can bring a more varied reading than a full stay in the same station on the coast.

The cenotes and beaches require specification of the places and activities desired. A clear water image does not describe neither the access nor the real experience. Several free days after the visits may be enough, with an address selected for its environment rather than for an animation list.

A region before a collection

The country is wide and the connections take time. Geographical consistency often offers more discoveries than a fast cross between the most famous cities and sites.

A beach stay end is built with the sector and the conditions of the period. It should not absorb the days useful to the chosen cultural stages.

Extend without spreading too thin

A country in Central America can complete a long targeted journey, without being required for a first approach. Chiapas, the cities in the center or another coast already offer returns to Mexico. Each region deserves its organization, rather than a quick addition to a too wide path.
