Travel Ideas in Kenya

Travel to Kenya.
Time for observation.

Savannah, reliefs and a light that changes every hour. A safari is built with time, attention and the steps chosen.

At every wish, his journey

What pace for your first safari?

In Kenya, the quality of a trip is not measured by the number of parks travelled. The time spent on landscapes, outputs and pauses is as much as the places. Wildlife scenes remain possible encounters, never promises.

These ideas help you to choose a direction. Caroline then studies with you the steps, links and possible benefits for your dates.

Places, atmospheres and desires

What you come to find.

The Masai Mara

The savannah in perspective

A stay in the same area allows you to renew the outputs without making the baggage again. The location of the camp and the ways of observation influence the day.

Mountains in the background

The landscape and the observation areas give a different atmosphere to the path. The visibility of the mountains depends on the day conditions and cannot be guaranteed.

The Kenian coast

A pause beside the ocean

A coastal extension changes the pace after the safari. The transfers, access to the beach and the comfort of the accommodation are seen from the building of the stay.

Drawing the right steps

Compare what the safari actually includes

Vehicle, number of passengers, accompaniment, location of the nights, meals and access fees must be detailed. Two programs with the same names of parks can offer very different experiences.

An itinerary idea to personalise

A first discovery can prefer a few nights in a safari area and then an extension on the coast. To combine multiple reservations, compare road and air trails, without turning every day into transfer.

Discovery suggestions, to adapt to your dates and local possibilities. No group departure, accommodation or price is announced as confirmed on this page.

The guide to make your choices

Prepare your discovery.

Which period should you choose?

Conditions vary according to areas and dates. No particular migration, species or scene is guaranteed; the journey must keep its interest in all its diversity.

What will influence your budget

Transportation to destination, the category and location of the nights, travel on the site and accompanied visits are compared together. Give Caroline a cover and your priorities: the project can be adjusted by playing on the steps, comfort or duration, before you stop the services.

Before booking

The formalities and conditions of access are checked for your nationality, your situation and the scheduled dates. Updated practical information is to be consulted with the competent authorities; the report describes the services effectively offered.

Before you launch

Your questions about Kenya.

Kenya or Tanzania for a first safari?

The two projects require comparison of areas, pace, accommodation and budget. Caroline helps you to choose the right path, rather than a country on the only animal promise.

How can I plan my trip to Kenya with Odyssée Voyages?

Contact Caroline by phone or by email with your dates, duration, number of travellers and priorities. A first study allows to clarify the possibilities, before any detailed proposal.

Are these ideas matching an already scheduled accompanying start?

not to. This page is an inspiration for a personalized project. The accompanied departies actually published are presented in the accompanied travel section, with their own information.

Take discovery further

Give the savannah time to become a familiar landscape

Masai Mara plains, Amboseli mountains and the dryer northern landscapes offer different ways to discover Kenya. The choice should be based on the type of experience that is sought, rather than a list of animals to meet. Accacias and reliefs also deserve the look.

Several nights in the same place change the observation. We see the light, the distant movements and the details of a scene. A successful day can hold to a landscape or to an attentive waiting, without promised spectacular observation or permanent search for the next reserve.

Two directions to shape your journey

What thread will connect your itinerary?

Ideas for discovery to personalise according to your dates, pace and local possibilities.

01

The Masai Mara and a second atmosphere

The Masai Mara can form the heart of a first discovery, with a well-defined sector and several nights. The location of the camp, the trails and the methods of the departure are compared. An address in the reserve and an address in a neighboring conservation zone do not imply the same operation.

A second region brings contrast if the available days allow it. Amboseli composes other landscapes, between wet areas and open horizons. The Kilimandjaro depends on the visibility of the day: it should not be presented as a photograph acquired during the trip.

02

Northern landscapes followed by a coastal stop

Another project can prefer the north, around Samburu, with the time needed to enjoy its dryer environments. This area is selected for the landscapes and the content of the stay. Eventual cultural encounters must not be imposed on the inhabitants or announced as a guaranteed show.

The Kenian coast then offers a change in pace. Diani and Watamu are not interchangeable: access, environment and possible activities differ. The connection with the safari deserves a clear place, with real days on the site to find a free pace and enjoy the address.

Fewer reserves, more time

A third reserve can add more road than diversity. Comparing the landscapes already met and the available nights allows you to keep a pleasant safari.

A personal pace

Morning departure, break and long days are not suitable for everyone. The operation of the camp and the flexibility of the organization must correspond to the travellers and their desires.

A respectful encounter

The observation is chosen for its guidance and respect for the animals. It is not based on a list of guaranteed species or on the continuation of a scene.

Give the journey the right pace

Two safari areas can be enough for a first discovery. Several nights in each limit fatigue and allow different outputs. A step on the coast takes its meaning with a real rest time, rather than one night after a long transfer.

Extend without spreading too thin

A combined with Tanzania is studying in a longer and targeted journey, but does not automatically improve the discovery. Another season, a different sector or more time in the same place can bring more than a first route crossing too many reserves and borders.
