DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY Located 320km north of the Arctic Circle, Tromsø calls itself the Gateway to the Arctic, and its polar atmosphere certainly lives up to the name. A city of adventure, this is where your Arctic experience begins! Saturday 16 January – Perpignan - Barcelona - Tromsø - Dinner cruise (duration 3h) Depart Perpignan for Barcelona Airport. Fly at 12h15, with arrival in Tromsø scheduled for 17h15. Meet your local guide at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Then set off on a northern lights dinner cruise from Tromsø aboard a silent electric vessel with uninterrupted 360-degree views. Cruise through Tromsø's fjord, passing the island, snow-covered mountains and Arctic Cathedral. On board, enjoy a dinner of Arctic tapas, a simple meal inspired by traditional Norwegian dishes and made with fresh local ingredients. With luck, you may see the northern lights dancing overhead. Overnight at the hotel. Sunday 17 January – Tromsø Cable Car - Polar Museum - Mack Brewery After breakfast, take a panoramic city tour with your French-speaking tour guide. Ride Tromsø's cable car for views across the entire city. Opened in 1961, it connects the Solliveien district to the summit of Mount Storsteinen, at approximately 421 metres above sea level. In just a few minutes, enjoy a spectacular ascent overlooking the surrounding fjords and Arctic mountains, and, with luck, the northern lights. Lunch at a restaurant. Then visit the Polar Museum. Tromsø has long been an important base for numerous polar expeditions. The museum presents the ships, crews and equipment essential to life at sea during their Arctic odysseys. Complete your city tour with a visit and tasting at Mack Brewery, the world's northernmost brewery. Founded in 1877, it quickly became a symbol of Arctic brewing expertise. Its best-known beer, Mack Arctic Beer, is often described as the world's northernmost beer. Return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay. Monday 18 January – Whale-watching cruise (duration 8h) After breakfast at the hotel, set off on a cruise through the fjords. Watching cetaceans in their natural habitat as these majestic giants gather to feed on herring is an experience to treasure. Board a fast, sustainable catamaran that reaches the whales quickly and allows as much time as possible with them, offering exceptional viewing opportunities, often very close to the vessel. In January, the fjords around Tromsø offer ideal conditions for watching cetaceans, particularly orcas and humpback whales. Every outing is unique and depends on natural conditions, but an encounter is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the journey. Lunch at your own expense; a kiosk on board serves refreshments. Return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
