DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY Friday 11 December – Olduvai - Serengeti (130km/ 2h30 on roads and tracks) Depart early for Serengeti National Park. Enjoy a full day on safari in the central region of Tanzania's oldest and most famous park, renowned for its annual migration, when almost six million hooves cross the plains: zebras, gazelles and wildebeest. Explore along the Seronera River, a favourite territory of big cats. Picnic lunch in the park during your safari. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay. Saturday 12 December – Serengeti National Park (distance and driving time depend on the safari) After breakfast, depart early for another wonderful day on safari. The Serengeti is one of the most beautiful places imaginable for a safari, with vast buffalo herds, groups of elephants and giraffes, and thousands of gazelles and antelopes. Ruling over it all, the big cats reveal the harsh but necessary spectacle of the constant struggle between predator and prey. Picnic lunch in the bush during your safari. Dinner and overnight at the lodge. Sunday 13 December – Serengeti - Ndutu - Karatu (180km/ 2h20 on paved roads and tracks) A final safari day shared between the Serengeti and the NCA. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and World Biosphere Reserve, home to numerous archaeological sites and traditional communities living alongside exceptional wildlife. Depending on the location of the Great Migration at this time, explore off-road around Lakes Ndutu and Masek. Lunch at Ndutu Lodge. In the afternoon, return towards Karatu. Dinner and overnight at the lodge. Monday 14 December – Karatu - Tarangire National Park (110km/ 2h on paved roads and tracks) After breakfast, head to Tarangire National Park, originally a hunting area and only established as a park in 1970. Arrive mid-morning for your safari and discover vegetation dominated by baobab groves, bearing the marks of the park's giants: elephants. Lunch in the park at Tarangire Safari Lodge. Continue your safari in search of the many elephant herds. Apart from the Serengeti, this is the largest concentration of wildlife and one of the few places to see oryx, long-necked gazelles and lesser kudu. Dinner and overnight at a camp in the heart of the park. Tuesday 15 December – Tarangire - Arusha - Kilimanjaro - Doha (160km/ 2h50 on paved roads) A final early-morning safari in Tarangire National Park, then return to Arusha. Lunch at Arumeru Lodge, followed by a transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport. The flight departs at 18h10 for Doha, arriving at 23h25.
